WELCOME TO LOWELL, GORDON CLAPP

Yesterday was a special day at Merrimack Rep. With The Persian Quarter now over, we welcomed the staff of This Verse Business, including Emmy Winner Gordon Clapp, star of NYPD Blue, to our offices for a meet and greet with the staff. Over an incredible bowl of sweet potato soup and fresh bread cooked up by stage manager Emily McMullen, still warm from the oven, Gordon was joined by writer A.M. Dolan and director/scenic designer Gus Kaikkonen in discussing their excitement to be working here in Lowell.

“When I first read Andy Dolan’s This Verse Business, it jumped off the page” explains Director and Scenic Designer Gus Kaikkonen. “Andy captures Robert Frost’s brilliance, wit and edge. Frost’s wily New England sensibility is the perfect antidote to our current national malaise. Gordon Clapp is deservedly a much awarded, world-class actor, who grew up in northern New Hampshire idolizing Robert Frost. His nuanced performance is not only authentic but hilarious.”

And what a beautiful day it was to arrive! Development Associate Jeff Prescott, Media Manager Mallory Johnston and Marketing Associate Ryan Axford were over at Liberty Hall today to reveal the This Verse Business banner, and yes, we know what you’re thinking: it does in fact take three people to hang up a poster.

On their walk back they got a great shot of Lowell.

Last night Merrimack Repertory Theatre opened their doors to members of the Producers Circle to meet Mr. Clapp, Mr. Dolan and Mr. Kaikkonen. The rehearsal hall was dolled up for the event. Do you want to meet the actors for future shows? Learn how!
