After a successful run of Shakespeare’s Will starring the extremely talented Seana McKenna, MRT is hard at work preparing for the next play…The 2010 Tony Award-Winner for Best Play, Red by John Logan.

Red is about famous abstract painter Mark Rothko, who hires a young assistant after being paid a large sum of money to create a series of paintings. During the show, the audience watches as Rothko and his assistant Ken work on the paintings, while surrounded by finished products of Rothko’s.

Naturally, it would be difficult to obtain the real paintings, so members of our extremely skilled production staff (Costume Shop Manager Lee Viliesis) have been hard at work reproducing a couple of Mark Rothko pieces. Check them out below and see what an amazing job they have done!

Red begins February 14 and runs through March 10. Tickets start at just $20 and can be purchased online at MRT.org or by calling the box office at 978-654-4678. See you at the theatre!
